One of our Man Crush for this Monday is one of our Canadian model who surely know how to make the girls dream about him on the covers of romance novels to magazine pages. He is not only a good looking model but also a writer himself with a published book. He is a proud Norwegian and really has a good vibe with him. Now let me introduce you to Tye Gnass.
Jhake: How did you get started with modeling and how long have you been in the industry?
Tye: I made the move to Toronto back in 2003 - was scouted a few times in the mall and on the street. Went to a few castings, never landed anything. Did my homework, did some research on agencies in the city, found out when their open calls were and, made a list and met with them. A few agencies said yes and a few said no. I eventually ended up signing with NAM, which I stayed with for 3 years. From there I moved to Elmer Olsen for 7 years. This past year I have made the switch to Sutherland Models, which has become my most successful year yet. I have a great team backing me, and am very thankful.
Jhake: Do you like being a model?
Tye: Yes! Most definitely - It’s fun and exciting and you get to meet a lot of great people! But you have to get used to the lifestyle - need to be on call 24/7 – You have to find and maintain that balance.
Jhake: How do you keep your body in shape?
Tye: I regularly train and hit the gym hard. I work with a few trainers occasionally to really push myself and to take it to the next level. I keep goals in mind of where I would like my body to be which encourages me to keep a consistent work out schedule. I also maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet; limiting alcohol intake, processed foods and getting plenty of sleep.
Jhake: What project/photoshoots are you most proud of?
Tye: Would definitely have to be a commercial I shot in Chile, South America for SEIKO watches. Just a spectacular experience. Will never forget it.
Jhake: Models are usually looked up to for fashion inspiration, how would you describe your personal style?
Tye: I try to keep it simple & clean. Of course it changes from day to day, depending on the weather, my mood, etc. For the most part a fitted/nicely cut pair of jeans/pants with a casual top paired with converse sneakers. I like to keep it versatile for any occasion.
Jhake: You have written a book that is currently available in Amazon. What inspired you to write a book?
Tye: I felt that I had a lot of ideas to share and plenty of life experiences, negative and positive. I hope to inspire and empower people; I believe this book is based on good solid human values. I feel that we all complicate life more than we really have to, in one way or another. This book can be used as a reminder of the ten keys components of a successful, happy, enjoyable life.
Jhake: Why the title of the book?
Tye: Felt that people needed a series of steps that would help define the kinds of elements that go in to a so-called successful life. I wanted it to be simple, relatable and a frequent reference for readers.
Jhake: Speaking of books, Who’s your favourite author?
Tye: Tim Ferriss! He’s the man! If you haven’t heard of him, look him up! My favourite book by him is ‘The 4 hour Work Week’, but it is his blog which I follow most.
Jhake: Do you have any tips to any guy/girls who wants to enter the modeling industry?
Tye: Take it with a grain of salt.
Jhake: For the curious people, is Mr Tye available or out of the market?
Tye: Haha. Such an interesting question. Who Knows
and there you go guys, you now know Tye a little bit better. Now, you just need to figure out if he’s single or not… :P
