Between her mononymous name and her distinctive, powerful voice, there’s something truly mysterious about POESY.
After writing her first song at age 9, POESY is now fully immersed in the world of alternative rock music. Her name is derived from an archaic word for poetry, and is a callback to her time as an English and Creative Writing major at Western University. POESY finds inspiration in literature, 1970s rock, thrift stores, and bus rides to create the narratives present in her songwriting. Her infatuation with all types of art led her to create a short story to accompany each track on her debut EP, “The Spotless Mind”. She looked up to the greats when crafting her own sound - Freddie Mercury for charisma, Stevie Nicks for enchantment, Dolores O’Riordan for power, and Kurt Cobain for his honest raw lyrics.
POESY has been making a name for herself on Canada's music scene, sharing the stage with acts such as Hollerado, Sloan, FeFe Dobson and Mother Mother. In 2017, she was selected as one of the 30 chosen artists on the new CTV music series The Launch, where she had the opportunity to work with Canadian producer and songwriter, Stephan Moccio and award-winning artist, Fergie. POESY was chosen as the artist to release Stephan Moccio & Lindy Robbins’ hit song ‘Soldier of Love’. The song now serves as the promotional song for the hit television show This Is Us.
She is currently working on writing and recording new music.
